This is the day too!

Well, what was going on in my head roughly 11 years ago?  Here is it . . .

God has something very special for me today.  As I go to work, I expect something spiritual today.  I’ll have to tell you about it tomorrow.  I’ll be staying over at a friend’s house tonight.  So, see ya!

I wrestle a little bit with how much of my journal to share with you guys.  I mean, do I really need to go through every day?  But then, on what basis do I edit?  Do I take out the boring stuff?  Do I take out the embarrassing stuff?  I haven’t figured it out yet.  So far, I’m just sharing as much as I can.

Not much of an entry here, huh?  But something about it strikes me as so good.  I mean this was basically me willing myself to believe God wanted to take that day – that very mundane, ordinary day – and do something with it.  I really don’t think it was that as a 19-year-old I just automatically had this great attitude and sense of divine expectation all the time.  I mean, there really were days that just sort of blurred by and that have since faded into the unconscious past.  But I love that on that day, I just determined in my heart to be on the lookout for God.

Seems like it has been a while since I’ve done that.

This morning I caught up on some sleep and then spent some time reading the Bible.  I’ve been trying to read the whole Bible through this year.  So I came across Psalm 118.  In verse 24, I read this very famous line, “This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!”  Well, I don’t know the exact day that this songwriter was referring to, but I have to ask myself about today, “Isn’t this day made by God too?  Shouldn’t I rejoice and be glad in it?”

I’ll make you a promise.  If you really look for God to show up today, you will find Him.  Really the only question is whether or not you are willing to look.
